Special edition 7 plank wagon produced by Bachmann for their Collectors Club in 2010. Limited run of 504 wagons. R.Y. Pickering is listed as the oldest wagon building company in Scotland. Based at Wishaw near Glasgow the business was started by John Pickering in 1864, but became R. Y. Pickering when his son Robert Young Pickering took over in 1878. Works were established in Fife, Lanarkshire and Beighton in Sheffield. The company was eventually taken over by the Lithgow Group in 1938 but continued producing rolling stock. The company name changed again to Norbrit Pickering in 1966 when it merged with North British Welding Company and this incarnation of the business ceased trading for good in 1987. ERA: 2 and 3. Wagon is in superb like new condition with all buffers and couplings intact, box in very good condition.
