Thomas Strong leased the Horsefair Brewery and 23 tied houses in 1858 before going on to purchase them in 1883. The company continued to trade and brew ales and stouts on site until 1969 when it was acquired by Whitbread & Co. ERA's: 1, 2 & 3.
