T. Butt & Son - 7 plank N gauge
£24.95
Limited edition 7 plank wagon commissioned by Antics and made by Dapol in 2007. Limited edition certificate included no 68 of 250 pristine wagons. Thomas Butt founded the business around 1867. Based on the Thames & Severn canal Butt moved coal and goods by boat. In the late 1800's the Midland Railway arrived in Stroud and Butt's yard was located at the edge of the new station, the company transitioned to use the railway as its main form of transporting coal, salt and builders goods. The coal Butt supplied was mainly purchased direct from collieries in Staffordshire and Warwickshire but he also traded with coal factors such as Thomas Silvey. The wagon modelled here was a single wagon purchased on deferred purchase in 1913 from the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Company. T. Butt had a fleet of seven owned wagons and two hired wagons up until pooling came in. The company itself operated as a coal merchant up until 1978, when it focused on the builders merchant side of the business. ERA's: 2 and 3. Wagon is in excellent, like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact. Box in very good condition, sleeve has some light wear.
